That isn't what I wanted to talk about though. I am worried. I am really worried. Go on. Ask me "Why are you worried?" and I will tell you it is because Mr and Mrs Nasty-Neighbour have bought their thuggish son a powerful air rifle. I know that the boy is being good at the moment but he has spent a lot of his formative years chasing my cats out of their garden. I am now worried about what is going to happen when he gets bored with shooting paper targets. I already suspect him of pot-shotting out of his bedroom window when there are no targets in view. I fear that the local bird population is about to take a nosedive and I don't think it will be that long before he wings one of my cats. That is a criminal offence, as is the shooting of birds, but I am trying to think of a way of circumventing the issue. After the fuss that Mr and Mrs N-N made over the fence replacement I don't think I can go round to speak to them and writing them a letter would be just as bad. They will think that I am harassing them or something like that. I don't want to spoil the lad's enjoyment of his hobby. I enjoyed shooting (I owned a Webley Junior .177 and a BSA Meteor Super .22) but I never shot at birds or cats with those air rifles. My father would have killed me if I had been discovered doing it and quite rightly so as well. All I can hope for is that the boy gets bored with the whole thing (and it is an expensive hobby - pellets aren't that cheap). Alternatively, I feel that the hobby could be very short lived or over and done with if he accidentally puts a shot through the windscreen of either parents car. Any suggestions anyone? Preferably before I have to get the Police and RSPCA involved? Drop me a comment if you have experience of this please.
The only other worry I have is that my Driving Examiner Interview date has come through. April the thirteenth in Sevenoaks. So I had better start brushing up on things that I have done that fit the competency based format. It is all go isn't it?
It has been two weeks since the earthquake that devastated Japan and apart from the nuclear power station problems it seems to have lost its newsworthiness. The suffering still goes on but they seem to be getting on with it. I found this story quite touching.
I struggle to make sure that the inside of the house stays reasonably well painted but when you see what some people have done to the outsides of their buildings, it doesn't bear thinking about.
Every once in a while another search engine comes along that tries to take on Google. Here is a new one that allows you to be much more selective about how you search using slashtags. The search engine is called Blekko and you can learn about what it is all about by watching the tutorial video here. If you can make sense of it then let me know!
